Divercity 2018

Tellin’ Tales illuminated understanding through story in Divercity, an original show featuring solo performances by writers and actors with disabilities. All cast members participated in our 6-week EveryBody Has a Story workshop and this show was the culmination of all of their work.

Performed June 22—24 at Prop Thtr and July 8 at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in the Austin neighborhood, Divercity pushed emotional boundaries as solo performers shared their personal stories of loss, defeat and triumph to appreciative full-house audiences. Though many of the performers had never been on stage before, all successfully showed audiences that we are more alike than different.

The Cast:

Tekki Lomnicki
Israel Antonio
Linda Bannon
Larry Bechdol
Ronald Cluck
Celeste Darey
Derrick Dawson
Melissa Fuller
Tom Jones
Jonathan Sondergeld.

The feedback was extraordinary:

“Multiple levels of misunderstanding, pain and trail enduring made these stories very rich, riveting”

“The whole show, honestly, was incredible!”

“The show challenged me to question my assumptions and look more deeply with a truly open mind toward all people. Bravo!!”

“I laughed, I cried, I pondered. The choice of music kept us singing between stories”

“Loved the diversity of the cast and the love! People speaking their truth. Powerful!”
